Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and research-oriented AI Engineer with strong expertise in computer vision, deep learning, and model deployment. The ideal candidate should be capable of independently analysing and solving complex perception problems, conducting experiments, and translating research ideas into reliable production solutions.
In this role, you will also build reusable AI technology assets, contribute to a scalable product platform, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deploy AI models in real-world environments.
The role requires working from customer sites, as needed, to understand operational requirements and carry out model training, development, validation, integration, and deployment in real-world environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently analyse and solve complex computer vision and perception problems.
- Research, design, train, and optimize deep learning models for image classification, object detection, segmentation, tracking, and related perception tasks.
- Work with architectures such as CNNs, SSD, YOLO, and their variants.
- Develop robust computer vision pipelines using OpenCV or equivalent libraries.
- Conduct research, evaluate emerging approaches, and translate relevant findings into practical solutions.
- Build reusable AI models, pipelines, tools, and technology components that can be adopted across multiple projects and applications.
- Contribute to the development of a scalable and maintainable AI product platform.
- Develop and deploy models using Azure Custom Vision and other cloud-based platforms.
- Manage the complete model lifecycle, including source control, model versioning, repository management, CI/CD integration, and OTA updates.
- Optimize models for edge devices, embedded systems, and resource-constrained environments.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, platform, and deployment teams to integrate AI models into production systems.
- Monitor model performance in real-world environments and retrain or optimize models to maintain accuracy, reliability, and scalability.
- Manage datasets, annotation workflows, data quality, and experiment tracking.
- Document experiments, workflows, reusable components, and deployment strategies to ensure reproducibility and compliance.
- Write clean, modular, maintainable, and scalable code.
- Work at customer locations in Chennai or other project sites, as required, for data collection, model training, development, testing, validation, and deployment.
- Collaborate closely with customer teams to understand use cases, operational challenges, and performance expectations.
- Troubleshoot and optimize deployed models at customer sites to ensure accuracy, reliability, and production readiness.
- Support onsite demonstrations, pilot implementations, production rollouts, and post-deployment performance monitoring.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in computer vision, deep learning, and model deployment.
- Deep expertise in computer vision and perception systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Hands-on experience with TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
- Experience with Azure Custom Vision or similar cloud-based AI platforms.
- Strong understanding of deep learning architectures such as CNNs, SSD, YOLO, and related variants.
- Proficiency in image processing and computer vision using OpenCV or similar libraries.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities, with the capability to independently address complex technical challenges.
- Research aptitude and the ability to evaluate, experiment with, and implement emerging AI and computer vision techniques.
- Experience in model evaluation, tuning, optimization, and deployment in real-world environments.
- Familiarity with MLOps tools and practices, including Git, CI/CD, experiment tracking, model versioning, and OTA deployment.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Exposure to edge deployment, embedded AI, or autonomous systems.
- Understanding of data annotation tools, dataset preparation, and dataset management.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, research-driven environment.
- Commitment to building reusable, scalable, and production-ready technology.
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring emerging developments in AI, computer vision, and autonomous systems.
