Role Description The Founding AI Engineer role at Open Gigantic is a full-time, on-site position based in Gurugram. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems that power the next generation of intelligent software. You will work across large language models, agentic architectures, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), memory systems, and backend infrastructure to solve complex engineering challenges. Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing scalable AI pipelines, building robust APIs and developer tooling, evaluating and improving model performance, identifying system bottlenecks, and ensuring reliability in production. You will collaborate closely with a high-calibre team, contribute to core architectural decisions, and take end-to-end ownership of features, from understanding user problems to shipping production-ready solutions that push the boundaries of applied AI.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in AI/ML engineering or applied software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of at least one additional language such as TypeScript, Go, or Rust.
• Hands-on experience building with Large Language Models (LLMs), including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embedding models, vector databases, AI agents, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Solid understanding of transformer architecture, including attention mechanisms, tokenisation, pre-training, and fine-tuning.
• Experience working with frontier AI models such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source alternatives, with an understanding of their strengths and trade-offs.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and concurrency.
• Commitment to high engineering standards, including clean architecture, meaningful testing, version control, and clear documentation.
