Role Description
The Article Trainee – Direct and Indirect Tax (Chennai) will support the tax team in delivering direct and indirect tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, involving preparation and review of tax returns, assistance in GST and income tax filings, and support in tax assessments and audits. The role includes conducting research on tax laws and regulations, drafting notes and summaries on client-specific tax issues, and assisting in preparing documentation and working papers for internal and external reviews. The trainee will collaborate with senior team members on client engagements, help compile data and manage records, and contribute to the timely completion of assignments. Participation in internal training, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax developments, and adhering to firm policies and quality standards will be integral to the role.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in accounting and taxation principles, with ongoing or completed professional studies in CA or a related discipline.
- Ability to perform tax research, interpret direct and indirect tax laws, and prepare clear documentation and working papers.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other office productivity tools for data analysis, report preparation, and maintaining accurate records.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for drafting notes, client correspondence, and collaborating within cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a structured approach to problem-solving in tax compliance and advisory work.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and work under supervision while managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to client service aligned with the firm’s “Client’s Success” motto.
- Prior internship or exposure to direct and indirect tax, audit, or related areas will be an added advantage.
