Role Description The Artcam role at UMAID is a full-time, on-site position based in Jodhpur. The individual in this role will use 3DS Max & Artcam software to design, model, and prepare detailed CNC-ready files for furniture and décor components. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting design briefs, creating 2D and 3D reliefs, adjusting designs for manufacturability, and coordinating with production teams to ensure accurate execution on CNC machines. The role also involves optimizing toolpaths, maintaining organized design libraries, and updating files based on feedback from supervisors and craftsmen. Collaboration with design, engineering, and quality teams is expected to refine prototypes and ensure that final products meet UMAID’s standards for aesthetics and durability.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Artcam or similar CAD/CAM software for furniture and décor design, including 2D and 3D modeling.
- Experience creating and optimizing CNC toolpaths, with an understanding of materials, machine capabilities, and manufacturing constraints.
- Strong technical drawing and drafting abilities, with attention to dimensions, tolerances, and production-ready documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality assurance, and to incorporate feedback effectively.
- Good problem-solving skills, time management, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in furniture or décor manufacturing, especially with CNC-based workflows, is an advantage.
- Relevant technical education in mechanical, industrial design, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to work on-site in Jodhpur and be closely involved with shop-floor processes and prototyping.
