About AMHI
The Arts for Mental Health Initiative (AMHI) is a growing practice ecosystem focused on trauma-informed, body-based and arts-based mental health care.
Our work centres women and communities, with an emphasis on culturally grounded, context-sensitive approaches that move beyond purely cognitive models of therapy.
Role Overview
We are looking to onboard a small number of expressive arts and somatic therapists to work with individual clients through AMHI.
This is a session-based engagement for practitioners who are interested in being part of a values-driven, supervision-supported ecosystem, while building and deepening their clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual therapy to clients using expressive arts and/or somatic approaches
- Work in a trauma-informed, consent-based, and ethically grounded manner
- Maintain clear therapeutic boundaries and session structure
- Document sessions (with confidentiality) in line with AMHI guidelines
- Participate in mandatory supervision (once every 4 sessions)
- Engage with feedback and ongoing quality review processes
- Provide group therapy and workshops
Mandatory Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification therapeutic experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent long-term professional training
- Demonstrated training in trauma-informed practice (formal training preferred)
- Experience working with women and/or girls
- Comfort working in Hindi
- Ongoing engagement in learning, training, or supervision
Preferred
- Experience in community-based mental health or psychosocial work
- Familiarity with culturally rooted or indigenous approaches
- Fluency in one or more additional regional Indian languages

Supervision & Support
- Mandatory supervision with a senior therapist once every 4 sessions
- Focus on safety, containment, ethics, and therapeutic process
- Ongoing qualitative review and feedback systems
Engagement Details
- Session-based model (not a full-time role)
- Flexible scheduling based on availability
- Initial 2-month trial period as part of onboarding
Ethical Framework
Therapists are expected to:
- Follow trauma-informed, survivor-centred, and consent-based practices
- Maintain confidentiality with clear communication of its limits
- Adhere to safeguarding and escalation protocols in high-risk situations
- Work within scope and refer out when required
