About the role

Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario ("the AGO") is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. At AGO Art Camp, we believe in fostering creativity and imagination in young artists. As part of the renowned Art Gallery of Ontario, we provide a unique and enriching experience for campers to explore their artistic talents while enjoying the fun of summer camp and we need great people to help us accomplish this! We are currently seeking a Temporary Full-Time, AGO Art Camp Support Counsellor to join our Education & Programming team for the AGO's Summer Art Camp. Under the direction of the Manager, Studio Programming & Learning, the incumbent will support campers, counsellors, and Senior Camp Staff throughout the summer. They will assist with monitoring campers, volunteer, and counsellor safety and well-being, and will assist counsellors with their programming and planning. The Support Counsellor will provide excellent front line customer service, liaising with parents/guardians, campers, AGO staff, volunteers, and patrons of the gallery. They will cover for camp counsellor and other absences as required, assist in the planning and leading of activities in collaboration with the Senior Camp Staff, counsellors and volunteers. The Support Counsellor will support staff and volunteers indoors and outdoors as needed to run programming, promote well-being, and maintain a safe camp environment at all times. They will mentor counsellors and volunteers throughout the summer, demonstrating best practices in behavioural management, customer service, program planning and delivery and health and safety awareness, and administrative processes. They will contribute feedback to end-of-summer reports and assist with the planning and implantation of our training program for Counsellors and Volunteers.
