Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related field, including some accounting courses; and
- Significant responsible experience in tax work, including working with Federal, State and local government laws, planning, implementing, and evaluating work systems, and performing liaison work with government officials and citizens.
Substitution: Additional education may be substituted for experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Monitoring the work of professional staff and managing process improvement work;
- Virginia and Arlington County tax code interpretation and application, and auditing;
- Monitoring and evaluating customer service processes; and/or
- Maintaining liaison with State, Federal and local agencies, the public, and others.

Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It will include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. Additional Information
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Telework is available for this position.
Work Type: The Arlington Commissioner of Revenue offers a hybrid work environment and generally permits employees to work in part, remotely. The individual in this position should be prepared to initially spend most of their work hours on-site at the Commissioner’s office in Arlington and would be eligible for hybrid work in the future as appropriate.
