Role Description The Area Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune Division, responsible for driving sales and market growth for Meril Healthcare’s medical device portfolio. This role involves managing and expanding relationships with hospitals, clinics, and healthcare professionals, identifying new business opportunities, and meeting assigned sales targets within the territory. The Area Sales Manager will conduct regular customer visits, product presentations, and demonstrations, as well as coordinate with internal teams for order processing, logistics, and post-sales support. Day-to-day activities include territory planning, monitoring competitor activities, preparing sales reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The role also requires collaboration with marketing and clinical support teams to execute local campaigns, participate in conferences or workshops, and provide feedback that supports product improvement and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales or business development, preferably in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare products.
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to engage healthcare professionals and institutional customers.
- Ability to analyze territory performance, prepare sales forecasts, and implement effective sales strategies.
- Sound understanding of healthcare industry dynamics, regulatory considerations, and hospital procurement processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with proficiency in English and local languages.
- Comfort with using CRM tools, MS Office applications, and basic digital reporting platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Pharmacy, Business, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the Pune Division and nearby regions as required.
