Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai & Madurai for the position of Area Sales Manager in the Cardiac Device Division. The Area Sales Manager will oversee and execute sales strategies, build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, provide product demonstrations, and track market trends to identify opportunities. Responsibilities include achieving sales targets, managing distributor relationships, conducting training programs for healthcare professionals, and maintaining detailed sales reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drive end-to-end business for cardiology portfolio across Kerala
- Lead, manage, and coach a team of Territory Sales Executives
- Achieve revenue targets, market share growth, and profitability goals
- Develop and execute territory business plans and growth strategies
- Sales and Business Development: A proven track record in sales, business development, and managing distributor networks within the healthcare or medical devices industry.
- Product Knowledge and Marketing: Familiarity with cardiac device technology and experience in creating and executing effective marketing and sales strategies.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and key stakeholders.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated leadership capabilities and excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to understand and communicate the technical aspects of medical devices effectively, including conducting product demonstrations and training sessions.
- Relevant Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or Business Administration (or equivalent).
- Other Qualifications: Familiarity with the Indian healthcare market and a willingness to travel as required. Previous experience in cardiovascular or medical device sales is highly desirable.
Experience:
- 5–8 years in medical device sales (Cardiology preferred)
- Minimum 2–3 years of team handling experience
- Proven track record of achieving high-value sales targets
Sales & Business Leadership:
- Monitor team performance and drive target achievement
- Identify new business opportunities by onboarding new hospitals
- Manage key accounts and develop KOL (Key Opinion Leader) relationships
- Drive product penetration and new product launches
Customer & KOL Management:
- Build strong relationships with senior cardiologists and hospital management
- Develop and engage KOLs for advocacy and training initiatives
- Represent the company in conferences and clinical discussions
Operational Responsibilities:
- Forecast sales, manage budgets, and optimize inventory
- Ensure collections, pricing discipline, and contract management
- Ensure compliance with company policies and healthcare regulations
- Review customer data and drive data-based decision-making
Team Management:
- Recruit, train, and develop high-performing sales team
- Conduct regular field visits, joint calls, and performance reviews
- Set KPIs and monitor execution rigor
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management capability
- Deep understanding of cardiology products and market dynamics
- Strategic thinking with execution excellence
- Strong negotiation and key account management skills
- High business ownership mindset
- Experience in handling high-value products (DES stents, TAVI, etc.)
- Strong network with leading cardiologists and hospital chains
- Exposure to multi-city / cluster management
- Good Communication Skills
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science / Biomedical / Pharmacy
- MBA (Sales/Marketing) is added advantage
