Area Manager – Operations | North India
Company: K Star Food & Hospitality Services
Department: Operations
Region: North India
Employment Type: Full-time
Travel: Extensive travel across assigned sites
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and ownership-driven Area Manager – Operations to manage multiple institutional catering sites across North India.
The role requires someone who can take end-to-end ownership of site performance — manpower, operations, client satisfaction, cost control, procurement quantity, staff capability and site profitability.
This is a field-intensive role. The Area Manager will be expected to visit sites frequently, identify gaps, implement processes and ensure issues are resolved at the root-cause level.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall ownership of assigned sites and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Manage and arrange required manpower including Site Managers, Supervisors, Chefs/Cooks, Storekeepers, Helpers and Utility staff.
- Take responsibility for site P&L, food cost, manpower cost and operating expenses.
- Regularly visit sites and review food quality, service, hygiene, manpower, stores, inventory and client concerns.
- Identify operational gaps and implement standard processes and corrective actions.
- Review raw-material consumption and procurement quantities against meal count, menu, stock and consumption trends.
- Identify abnormal consumption, wastage, excess purchases and repeated emergency buying.
- Monitor vendors for quality, delivery and service performance and coordinate with Purchase for corrective action.
- Train and develop Site Managers, Supervisors, Chefs and Storekeepers.
- Maintain strong relationships with client representatives and ensure timely closure of complaints.
- Review site MIS, attendance, stock, consumption, operational reports and P&L.
- Ensure hygiene, food safety, statutory and client compliance.
- Support mobilisation and stabilisation of new sites in the region.
Candidate Profile
- 7–12 years of experience in institutional catering, food services, hospitality or similar multi-site operations.
- Experience managing multiple sites is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of manpower management, food cost, inventory, procurement, client handling and P&L.
- Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets and operational MIS.
- Good communication in English and Hindi.
- Willingness to travel extensively across North India.
What We Are Looking For
We need someone who:
- Takes ownership instead of only reporting problems.
- Is comfortable being physically present at sites.
- Understands numbers and site profitability.
- Can identify cost leakage and operational inefficiencies.
- Develops site teams instead of becoming personally dependent for every issue.
- Implements processes and follows up until they are consistently followed.
- Can handle manpower shortages and operational emergencies.
- Is proactive with client concerns and escalations.
Key Performance Areas
- Site profitability / P&L
- Food-cost and consumption control
- Manpower productivity
- Client satisfaction
- Site audit and compliance scores
- Inventory and wastage control
- Staff availability and capability
- Complaint and CAPA closure
- MIS accuracy and timeliness
- Overall stability of assigned sites
This is not an office-based coordination role. Candidates should apply only if they are comfortable with frequent travel, hands-on site management and direct accountability for results.
