Position Summary
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the manufacturing facility, including offices, restrooms, breakrooms, laboratories, warehouse spaces, and production areas. This role is critical to supporting operational efficiency, employee safety, and regulatory compliance in a chemical manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize office areas, including desks, floors, windows, and common touchpoints
- Maintain restrooms by cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking supplies (e.g., soap, paper products)
- Clean and organize breakrooms, including appliances, tables, and waste disposal areas
- Sweep, mop, and maintain floors in common areas such as hallways, entryways, and meeting spaces
- Clean aisles and walkways in manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouse areas to ensure safe access and compliance with safety standards
- Remove trash and recycling from all designated areas and ensure proper disposal in accordance with company and environmental guidelines
- Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to supervision
- Follow all plant safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of cleaning chemicals
- Support spill cleanup response as directed, in accordance with safety procedures and training
- Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure supplies are stored safely and properly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior janitorial or industrial cleaning experience preferred, especially in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic understanding of safety practices, including chemical handling (training provided)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in various environments, including office and industrial settings
- Comfortable working around chemicals with appropriate training and PPE
Work Environment
This position operates in both office and industrial environments, including manufacturing floors, laboratories, and warehouses. Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and chemical substances may occur; appropriate training and PPE will be provided.
