Role Description The Architectural Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based at Dotand’s Chennai studio. This role involves preparing detailed architectural and construction drawings from design concepts and sketches, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to project standards and local regulations. The Architectural Drafter will collaborate closely with architects and designers to develop plans, sections, elevations, and details, update drawings based on design changes, and coordinate documentation across multiple project types. Daily responsibilities include organizing drawing sets, maintaining CAD/BIM standards, supporting the planning process with technical inputs, and assisting in the preparation of documentation for approvals and construction. The role also includes participating in design reviews and communicating clearly with project teams to meet timelines and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Strong ability to produce precise Architectural Drawings and Construction Drawings aligned with design intent and technical standards.
Prepare detailed architectural drawings, construction drawings, and shop drawings based on design concepts.
Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
Coordinate with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and project teams.
Revise drawings based on design changes and client or site feedback.
Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
Prepare working drawings for tender, execution, and as-built documentation.
Maintain drawing records and ensure proper document control.
Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission.
Assist in preparing presentation drawings and design documentation when required.
Support site teams by providing drawing clarifications and resolving technical issues.
Coordinate with consultants to incorporate their inputs into architectural drawings.
Meet project deadlines while maintaining high drafting quality.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field.
4–10 years of experience in architectural drafting and design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).
