Job Summary
The Church Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the church building, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and functional condition. This role supports the church’s mission by ensuring all facilities are well cared for and ready for worship services, events, and daily operations.
Job Responsibilities
General Maintenance
- Perform routine inspections of church facilities and equipment
- Complete basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC support as needed)
- Replace light bulbs, fix minor leaks, and address general wear and tear
- Maintain heating and cooling systems at proper settings and report issues
Building Upkeep
- Ensure all worship areas, classrooms, offices, and restrooms are clean and functional
- Coordinate or assist with deep cleaning schedules and seasonal maintenance
- Set up and tear down rooms for church services, meetings, and events
Grounds Maintenance
- Care for church landscaping, including mowing, trimming, and seasonal cleanup
- Remove snow/ice and ensure safe walkways and parking areas
- Maintain outdoor lighting and exterior building appearance
Job Requirements
- Prior experience in building or facility maintenance preferred
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry repairs
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform manual labor tasks
- Respectful attitude and alignment with the values of the church
