Saint James School, in Manchester, CT, a Catholic elementary school has an opening for a full-time Second Grade teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position requires a dynamic teacher that can interact with and support the learning of second graders.
Requirements
The following is required of the candidate:
- · Minimum 2 years of successful elementary classroom teaching.
- · Bachelor’s degree.
- · Teacher certification.
- · Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
- · Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-based environment.
- · Practicing Catholic.
Additionally, the candidate must be able to:
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that address spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
- Use diverse instructional techniques such as modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
- Encourage children to develop self-help skills and independence.
- Adapt curriculum to meet individual learning needs and initiate referrals when necessary.
- Promote positive behavior through redirection, positive reinforcement, and adherence to the school’s behavioral policies.
- Maintain positive communication with families through newsletters, daily updates, and as-needed outreach.
- Attend regular staff meetings and participate in annual reviews and professional development.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Assist students who may need additional support.
