SUMMARY: Works
under the direction of the outpatient registered nurse. Assist in scheduling
and coordination of outpatient services.
Assist the outpatient licensed nurse in providing treatments and
procedures. Works closely with Quality Director to collect, compile and report
quality, infection control, and risk initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent GED
- Must have basic clerical skills, typing, filing,
and ability to communicate with the public, patients, doctors, nurses, and
coworkers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to maintain composure when faced with
difficult situations.
- Ability to work with computers, electronic
devices, telephones, and fax machines.
- Must possess the ability to do multiple task
simultaneously.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in daily
work and communications.
- Knowledge of patient care standards and use of
medical equipment.
- Knowledge of Infection Control and Prevention
practices.
- Knowledge of Quality Improvement Practices.
- Direct patient care.
PREFERRED
QUAILFICATIONS:
- Previous customer services experience.
- Previous patient care experience.
- Previous experience in scheduling.
- Basic Medical Terminology.
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Previous Infection Control and Quality
experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Ability to communicate with patients, visitors,
and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Facilitate patients with logistics of outpatient
procedures in various departments throughout the hospital.
- Answer outpatient services telephone in a
professional and courteous manner.
- Answer outpatient services faxes and route them
to the appropriate outpatient services provider.
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of
outpatient services.
- Assist in performing outpatient EKGs, vital
signs, and patient personal care needs as assigned.
- Assist in outpatient clinics as assigned by
supervisor.
- Data Entry as assigned.
- Obtain preauthorization for outpatient
procedures.
- Accurate posting of outpatient charges.
- Perform endoscopy scope disinfection according
to manufactures recommendations and hospital policy.
- Transports patients and equipment as
appropriate.
- Provide for patient’s personal hygiene and
comfort needs.
- Schedule and track and maintain employee health
records.
- Track and report out Quality measures.
- Other duties as assigned by Quality/Infection
Control Nurse.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned, requested, or
required.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
- Licensed Practical Nurse preferred but not
required.
LANGUAGE/READING
SKILLS: Communicates effectively in English (verbal/written).
REASONING ABILITY: Responds
to unusual or varied situations that are not covered by existing standards,
procedures and precedents.
WORK ENVRIONMENT: Regularly
required to stand, walk, sit, ascend and descend stairs, possess ability to
handle, feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Frequently be able to lift 25 pounds from the floor to waist
level and may be required to assist in moving adult patients.
Potential for exposure to infectious and communicable
diseases, blood and bodily fluids, electrical equipment, and chemicals.
