Freight Operations Executive

Purpose of the Job Ensure all freight customs-related functions are executed to the highest standard and in full compliance with SARS regulations. Provide expert support to freight operations, customers, and internal stakeholders on all customs-related matters. Job Description Role Summary: As the Customs Entry Clerk, you will play a pivotal role in daily customs operations. You'll be responsible for reviewing source documents, accurately capturing data into the SARS EDI system, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. You'll also provide exceptional customer service, resolve customs-related issues, and support the freight team with documentation, permits, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: Capture and process Bills of Entry for air and sea freight (import/export). Handle special entries: repairs & returns, temporary imports, warranty agreements, industrial/general rebates. Manage bonded and ex-bonded entries; oversee rebate and bond store compliance. Apply Customs & Excise rules, including: Schedule 1P2B and 2P1 applications Homologation and ECE certificate requirements General Rules of Interpretation and Valuation methods CPC code interpretation Attend customs audits, stops, and disputes (NRCS, SAPS, CBCU, POH). Process: Vouchers of Correction (VOC) Customs refunds/drawbacks (e.g., rebate codes 521, 522, 536) Cargo dues (imports/exports) Customs documents (DA70, DA73, DA68) Assist with: Tariff classification and duty/VAT estimates Permit and trade certificate applications (ITAC, DAFF, NRCS) Customs code and import permit applications Cross-trade shipments and agent handovers Monitor RCG and APN, compile deferment logs, and process SARS cash payments. Support the Freight Commercial Team and pricing team with customs-related matters. Ensure accurate application of Incoterms and related charges.
