Application Support Engineer – MSSQL & Automation (PowerShell)

About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Application Support Engineer – MSSQL & Automation (PowerShell) to support and enhance enterprise data platforms and automation frameworks. In this role, you will be responsible for managing SQL Server databases, optimizing database performance, developing automation solutions using PowerShell, and providing production support for critical business applications.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in MSSQL development, database performance tuning, PowerShell scripting, production support, troubleshooting, and automation, with hands-on experience in enterprise data workflows and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Application Support & Operations
- Provide L2 / L3 support for database-driven applications and automation workflows
- Monitor database performance, scheduled jobs, alerts, and overall system health
- Perform incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and issue resolution within SLA timelines
- Support database deployments, releases, patches, and maintenance activities
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and cross-functional support teams for issue resolution
- Ensure adherence to ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
- Support critical production issues, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities
MSSQL Development & Database Management
- Design, develop, and maintain:
- SQL Queries
- Stored Procedures
- Functions
- Triggers
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization
- Analyze and improve:
- Query performance
- Indexing strategies
- Execution plans
- Manage data integrity, consistency, and database security
- Work with:
- Large datasets
- Data transformations
- Data migration processes
- Troubleshoot:
- Slow queries
- Deadlocks
- Blocking issues
- Database performance bottlenecks
PowerShell & Automation
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to improve operational efficiency
- Automate tasks such as:
- Database jobs and monitoring
- File handling and data processing
- Scheduled tasks and system maintenance
- Reporting and alerting
- Integrate PowerShell scripts with:
- SQL Server jobs
- APIs
- Windows services
- Troubleshoot and optimize automation scripts
- Build reusable automation frameworks to streamline support operations
Data Integration & Processing
- Support data pipelines, ETL processes, and data movement workflows
- Work with:
- REST APIs
- JSON/XML data formats
- Data exchange mechanisms
- Develop scripts and queries for:
- Data extraction
- Transformation
- Loading (ETL)
- Collaborate with application teams to support data-related business requirements
Required Technical Skills
MSSQL & Database Expertise

- Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)

Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in MSSQL development and application support
- Strong hands-on experience in database development and automation scripting
- Experience supporting production-critical database systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field
- Microsoft SQL / Automation certifications are a plus
