Application Security Engineer
Role Description:
We are looking for an Application Security Engineer to help identify, assess, and mitigate security vulnerabilities across our web applications and digital platforms. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of offensive security techniques and be able to think like an attacker to proactively identify potential weaknesses before they can be exploited.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform security assessments and penetration testing of web applications.
- Identify vulnerabilities related to authentication, authorization, session management, APIs, and business logic.
- Simulate real-world attack scenarios to evaluate application security.
- Test applications for potential bypasses, manipulation, and abuse of workflows.
- Collaborate with development teams to remediate security issues and validate fixes.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and prepare security reports with actionable recommendations.
- Stay up to date with emerging threats, attack techniques, and security best practices.
- Contribute to improving secure development practices throughout the software lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in application security, penetration testing, or ethical hacking.
- Strong knowledge of web application security concepts and the OWASP Top 10.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Nmap, Wireshark, or similar.
- Good understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, REST APIs, authentication mechanisms, and session management.
- Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, SQL, and common web technologies.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment and security testing methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Security certifications such as CEH, OSCP, PNPT, or similar are an added advantage.
