Description
Join our Retail Business Services team and help shape the shopping experience for millions of Amazon customers worldwide. In this role, you'll bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, working on systems that ensure our catalog is complete, accurate, and comprehensive while driving operational efficiency across our global retail operations.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with business teams to understand their support needs and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions in partnership with other technical teams
- Design, implement, and maintain applications and automation scripts that solve complex operational challenges and improve efficiency across our retail services
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including application infrastructure problems and bugs, with a focus on understanding business impact and driving continuous improvement
- Establish and monitor service health through the development of service level agreements, metrics, monitoring procedures, and documentation that support operational excellence
- Participate in on-call support rotations to respond to critical alerts, investigate issues, and implement fixes that maintain service reliability

A day in the life
As an Application Engineer, you'll spend your time solving real business challenges for our retail teams. You might start your morning reviewing support requests and collaborating with business stakeholders to understand their needs, then transition into designing and implementing scalable solutions that automate complex processes. You'll work alongside our engineering team to troubleshoot issues, refine existing applications, and develop automation scripts that reduce manual work. Your day might include code reviews with colleagues, monitoring system health through dashboards and alerts, or onboarding a new client onto our platform and walking them through its capabilities. You'll also participate in on-call rotations, responding to critical issues and contributing to long-term improvements in our service reliability.
About The Team
We are a collaborative group of engineers and technical professionals dedicated to supporting Amazon's retail growth across the globe. Our team tackles three core challenges: expanding our product selection through data enrichment, eliminating supply chain defects, and filling gaps in our technology infrastructure. Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
- Experience scripting in modern program languages
- Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go
- Experience identifying and resolving complex issues
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, including design, development, test, build, deployment processes and timelines
- Experience in React JS & Java as front-end & Back-end
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
- Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID
- Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON
