Role Description
An Electronics Application Engineer acts as the primary technical bridge between a company’s R&D department and its customers. Their primary goal is to ensure that a complex electronic product—such as a microcontroller, power module, or simulation software—is successfully integrated into a customer's specific end-product.
Educational Qualification- B.E./B.Tech in ECE / EEE / Electronics / Mechatronics
- Automotive or embedded systems specialization preferred
Experience- 5+ years in automotive electronics / embedded systems
Key Responsibilities1. Customer Application Engineering- Interface directly with OEM customers to understand:
- System requirements
- Vehicle architecture
- Application constraints
- Translate customer needs into internal technical specifications
- Support RFQ/RFI technical discussions and feasibility analysis
2. Product Application & Integration- Support integration of products
- Customize hardware/software configurations for specific vehicle platforms
- Ensure compatibility with vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
3. Technical Support to Customers- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support
- Troubleshoot issues during:
- Prototype builds
- Vehicle integration
- Field performance
- Support customer plant visits and vehicle-level debugging
4. Cross-Functional Coordination- Work closely with:
- Hardware design team
- Embedded software team
- Quality & manufacturing teams
- Ensure alignment with APQP/PPAP processes as per IATF16949
5. Requirement & Change Management- Manage customer requirements using tools like IBM DOORS
- Handle:
- Engineering Change Requests (ECR)
- Engineering Change Notes (ECN)
- Perform impact analysis for design changes
6. Supplier & Internal Support- Coordinate with component suppliers for:
- Technical clarifications
- Alternate parts and obsolescence handling
- Support cost optimization and localization initiatives

- Automotive electronics systems

- Automotive communication protocols:
- CAN, LIN, Ethernet

- Ability to handle OEM discussions, escalations, and technical reviews
- Experience in onsite customer support (preferred)
Tools & Software- EDA tools (basic understanding): Altium Designer, OrCAD
- Requirement tools: IBM DOORS
- Diagnostic tools: Oscilloscope, Multimeter, logic analyzer, CAN tools
- MS Excel, PowerPoint for reporting
