Job Summary The Licensing Specialist - SAM will support licensing, ELP preparation and compliance activities across IBM, Adobe, Red Hat and other Tier-2/Tier-3 publishers. The role will combine contract and entitlement review, portal data validation, discovery analysis, usage reconciliation and risk reporting to produce defensible license positions and optimization recommendations. Experience with Flexera or ServiceNow SAM Pro will be beneficial, along with understanding of software discovery models and data quality dependencies. Key Responsibilities Publisher licensing analysis: Analyze entitlement and consumption data for IBM, Adobe, Red Hat and other Tier-2/Tier-3 publishers using publisher-specific licensing rules and SAM methodology. IBM support: Support IBM ELP activities involving Passport Advantage records, PVU/VPC/Authorized User concepts, sub-capacity data, ILMT/BFI evidence and deployment mapping. Adobe support: Review Adobe subscriptions, ETLA or VIP constructs, named user assignments, product profiles, admin console exports, portal records, inactive users and license harvesting opportunities. Red Hat support: Review Red Hat subscriptions, RHEL or OpenShift entitlements, support coverage, portal data, server/subscription mapping and consumption alignment. Tier-2 and Tier-3 publishers: Support additional publishers by validating agreements, subscriptions, portal exports, install evidence, SaaS usage, renewal data and compliance position. ELP preparation: Collect and reconcile entitlement, deployment, usage, SaaS, server, user and subscription data to prepare license position summaries and compliance workpapers. SAM process execution: Perform entitlement review, discovery validation, normalization, software model mapping, license reconciliation, compliance reporting and remediation tracking. Tooling support: Use Flexera or ServiceNow SAM Pro where available to support entitlement uploads, publisher onboarding, software model validation, license records and reporting outputs. Discovery understanding: Validate software discovery data, user extracts, SaaS portal outputs, server inventory, cloud records and CMDB mappings to identify completeness and accuracy issues. Optimization and harvesting: Identify inactive users, duplicate assignments, unused subscriptions, over-deployed software, support cost risks and license harvesting or right-sizing opportunities. Reporting and communication: Prepare risk summaries, ELP sections, remediation trackers, evidence notes and stakeholder-ready reports for SAM leads and client teams.
- IBM / Adobe / Red Hat: Practical licensing knowledge for IBM, Adobe and Red Hat with ability to interpret entitlements, portal records, subscription rights, usage data and compliance implications.
- Tier-2/Tier-3 publishers: Experience supporting multiple additional publishers with structured entitlement, inventory, license reconciliation and optimization methodology. Preferred Experience and Credentials Recommended 4+ years of SAM / ITAM experience with hands-on exposure to IBM, Adobe, Red Hat or comparable Tier-2/Tier-3 publisher reviews. Experience with SaaS license harvesting, subscription reconciliation, Red Hat subscription management or Adobe Admin Console reviews is preferred. Strong Excel-based data analysis, reconciliation, reporting and stakeholder communication skills are required. Certifications such as CSAM, CITAM, IBM licensing, Red Hat, Adobe licensing, Flexera or ServiceNow SAM Pro are an added advantage. Key Deliverables and Success Measures
