Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Apigee API Gateway Engineer to design, implement, secure, and manage enterprise API gateway solutions using Google Cloud Apigee on top of APIs hosted across both Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure environments.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in API management, API security, cloud integrations, and enterprise-grade API governance. The role involves exposing backend services hosted in AWS Lambda, Kubernetes, App Services, Azure Functions, microservices, and legacy systems through Apigee with centralized authentication, traffic management, analytics, and developer onboarding capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement API Gateway architecture using Google Cloud Apigee.
Configure and manage API proxies, shared flows, target servers, products, apps, and developer portals.
Integrate Apigee with backend APIs hosted on:
AWS Lambda
Amazon EKS / ECS
API Gateway
Azure Functions
Azure App Services
AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
On-premise services
Implement enterprise API security standards including:
OAuth 2.0
JWT validation
API Key management
mTLS
Rate limiting
IP whitelisting
Threat protection policies
Configure API traffic management policies:
Quotas
Spike arrest
Caching
Request/response transformation
Fault handling
Implement logging, monitoring, and analytics integrations with:
Datadog
Splunk
ELK/OpenSearch
Cloud Monitoring tools
Build CI/CD pipelines for Apigee deployments using:
Jenkins
GitHub Actions
Azure DevOps
Maven/Apigee deployment tools
Collaborate with cloud, backend, security, and DevOps teams to onboard APIs securely.
Support API lifecycle management including versioning, deprecation, and governance.
Troubleshoot API performance, latency, routing, and authentication issues.
Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Apigee (Apigee X / Hybrid / Edge).
Experience exposing APIs hosted across AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
