JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent’s primary role will be to design, build, integrate, and maintain data from multiple sources and facilitate an environment through which management can better direct business strategy via data driven decision making. This will include gathering requirements from business partners, identifying potential information solutions, creating data pipelines, deploying new data sets, and maintaining existing environments in support of a cohesive enterprise data structure capable of implementing organizational initiatives and fulfilling ad-hoc data requests and projects.
The candidate will need to have strong analytical skills. Experience with programming packages such as Python and SQL is a must. Comfort with an enterprise data warehouse environment is also desirable. Ideally, they will have a working knowledge of MuleSoft, Web Services, Salesforce, and SQL Server in order to better support the Enterprise Data and Analytics department as a whole. In general, the individual should have capable software development skills and be willing to learn additional tools as needed. Ability to pay close attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines is a necessity. Finally, the applicant must possess excellent communication and collaboration skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to transform the association’s data into business information that helps departments fulfill strategic objectives.
Develop, construct, test, and maintain architectures.
Align architecture with business requirements.
Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.
Create the design and support of enterprise data warehouse.
Provide easier access to raw data and optimize data retrieval process.
Build and maintain custom data integrations across multiple systems.
Respond to periodic analytics requests from other departments throughout the organization.
Facilitate a culture of data collaboration.
Create technical documentation for data architecture, API specifications, and automation processes.
Create and extend enterprise data catalog capabilities that document what data exists across organizational systems, how it is structured, and how it connects, enabling teams across the company to navigate the full data landscape.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Detail-oriented self-starter with initiative and follow-through.
Able to prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity simultaneously.
Able to understand business issues and interpret data in a way that provides actionable insights.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technology degree with a focus on development and coding.
Proficient in at least one or more of the following languages: Python, R, RAML, C#, .NET, HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
Server-side familiarity: ASP, .NET, MVC (Entity Framework experience a plus).
Develop and maintain Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) scripts, SQL scripts, and ETL schedules using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across the full stack from infrastructure through application layers.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar.
Previous experience developing an enterprise data warehouse.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Salesforce platform experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position works in an office setting.
Typical working hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.
Generally, a climate-controlled environment with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions when attending aviation related events, including exposure to higher altitudes and confined spaces if in a general aviation aircraft.
This position requires some travel, up to 5% of the time, to various general aviation or industry-related events. Travel is by aircraft (general aviation and commercial) and by road or public transit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of this position are typical of a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to:
Sit for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
Use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
Communicate effectively via email, phone, and in-person, which requires clear speech, hearing, and vision.
Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 15 pounds, such as boxes of materials or equipment.
Occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms during the course of normal office activities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is located at AOPA’s Frederick, MD, office.
The salary range for this position is: $95,000 - $105,000, depending on education and experience.
