Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems. We believe that there are lots of fantastic candidates who presently work in other fields, and could have lots of impact if they transitioned into ML. The Anthropic Residency program offers 6-12 month residencies, working closely with mentors to do high-impact research and grow as a machine learning researcher. We are open to candidates with non-traditional backgrounds who are interested in breaking into the ML or AI field. You might be a fit if you: Are deeply curious about machine learning, especially large models, scaling laws, circuits-style interpretability, and human feedback. Care about how machine learning affects society and about making AI safe. Have a strong understanding of python, linear algebra, and calculus.  Understand fundamental deep learning concepts and be able to implement them. Has likely done significant self-study, side projects, or a course related to deep learning. Are results-oriented, with a bias towards flexibility and impact. Have significant research or software engineering experience. Strong candidates will Have strong expertise in another technical discipline, as demonstrated published research results in another field, previous software engineering work, etc., though we are also open to candidates with non-traditional backgrounds.  Be open to considering a full time role if the residency leads to it seeming like a fit. The expected salary range for this position is: Annual Salary: £205,000—£205,000 GBP Logistics Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices. Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
