Role Description The Anterior Segment Ophthalmic Surgeon will provide full-time, on-site clinical care at Shree Labhmuni Netra Chikitsalaya in Mandsaur, focusing on disorders of the anterior segment of the eye. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting outpatient consultations, performing preoperative evaluations, and delivering surgical treatments such as cataract and anterior segment procedures. The role involves post-operative care, management of complications, and ongoing follow-up to ensure optimal visual recovery and patient safety. The surgeon will collaborate with optometrists, nursing staff, and other clinicians, contribute to clinical protocols, and participate in patient education and counseling. Additional duties may include maintaining accurate medical records, adhering to regulatory and hospital guidelines, and supporting quality improvement and training initiatives.
Qualifications
- Completed MBBS and MS/MD/DNB in Ophthalmology (or equivalent recognized qualification), with focused experience in anterior segment surgery.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cataract surgery and common anterior segment procedures, including preoperative assessment and postoperative management.
- Strong clinical examination skills in ophthalmology, including slit-lamp evaluation, biometry, and interpretation of relevant diagnostic tests.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and high ethical standards in clinical decision-making and surgical care.
- Effective communication skills for counseling patients and families, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and documenting clinical findings clearly.
- Ability to work in a high-volume clinical setting, manage time efficiently, and adapt to the needs of diverse patient populations.
- Interest in ongoing professional development, participation in clinical audits, and engagement with new techniques or technologies in anterior segment surgery.
- Prior experience in a dedicated eye hospital or ophthalmology department is preferred; familiarity with local languages in the Mandsaur region is an advantage.
