About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our Engineering Group, focusing on developing and implementing security mitigation features within Android OS and related platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Android security, Linux kernel internals, and embedded programming, with a strong emphasis on vulnerability detection and mitigation techniques. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to review security designs, develop security tools, and enhance the overall security posture of Qualcomm’s products. The engineer will be responsible for identifying potential vulnerabilities, developing security patches, and automating security testing processes to ensure robust defense mechanisms are in place. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields from a reputed institution, with a strong academic record. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years (for Bachelor's), 2 years (for Master's), or 1 year (for PhD) of relevant industry experience in software engineering. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python is essential. Experience with Android OS, Linux kernel internals, and embedded systems is mandatory. Knowledge of ARM architecture, security extensions (e.g., PAC, PAN, BTI), and fuzzing tools like Syzkaller, Trinity, or AFL is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently on complex features and issues are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include developing and implementing security mitigation features at both kernel and user space levels. The engineer will work closely with security and development teams to understand security design reviews and contribute innovative solutions to address vulnerabilities. Responsibilities also encompass creating automation tools using scripting languages like Python and Bash, conducting security assessments, and integrating fuzzing tools to identify potential weaknesses in kernel drivers and other system components. Additionally, the role involves reviewing security policies, contributing to the development of secure software architectures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The candidate will independently drive security features and resolve issues, providing technical leadership and guidance to team members as needed.
