About the Role:
Integrating AI/Computer Vision inference into the Qualcomm QCS8550 camera pipeline so it can run as a background service and be recognized by standard apps like Teams and Zoom.
- Android System: AOSP, Binder IPC, AIDL / HIDL, NDK, JNI.
- Camera & Video: CamX, Chi-CDK (Qualcomm specific), Virtual Camera HAL, V4L2, cameraserver.
- AI & Qualcomm Silicon: QNN, SNPE, Hexagon DSP / HTP, HVX.
- Memory / Performance: AHardwareBuffer, Gralloc, DMA-BUF, Zero-copy.
- Security & OS Core: SELinux, sepolicy, .te files, Native Daemons / C++ Daemons.
- Virtual Camera Creation: Building "Virtual Camera HALs" or "External Camera HALs" so custom video feeds are recognized by standard Android apps.
- Qualcomm Camera Modification: Writing custom "Nodes" (Chi-CDK) inside the Qualcomm CamX pipeline to intercept and process raw camera feeds.
- Low-Level Buffer Management: Passing high-resolution video frames between hardware components without copying memory (Zero-copy buffer sharing).
- System-Level Security: Writing SELinux policies to allow a background service or HAL to bypass default Android security restrictions safely.
- AOSP Customization: Building custom Android ROMs for proprietary hardware boards, not just making apps that run on phones.
