About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our Engineering Group, focusing on developing and implementing security mitigation features within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing device security by identifying vulnerabilities, developing detection tools, and integrating security features into kernel and user space components. This position requires a deep understanding of Android OS architecture, Linux kernel internals, and embedded programming. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to review security designs, provide alternative solutions, and ensure robust security measures are in place across Qualcomm’s products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for security research, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to independently drive complex features from conception through implementation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from a reputed institution, with a strong academic record (good CGPA). An advanced degree such as a Master's or PhD is preferred. Candidates should have at least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering or related fields, with hands-on experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Python. Experience in embedded systems, Linux kernel development, and Android OS is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to independently manage feature development and troubleshoot complex issues effectively. A solid understanding of ARM architecture, security extensions, and familiarity with fuzzing tools is highly desirable, along with knowledge of security protocols and best practices in mobile device security.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include developing security mitigation features at both kernel and user space levels, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of device data. The role involves working closely with technical teams to review security designs, identify potential vulnerabilities, and propose innovative solutions to enhance overall system security. You will be responsible for implementing security features such as SE Linux, ARMv8/ARMv9 security extensions, and other hardware-assisted security mechanisms. Additionally, the role requires developing automation tools using Python or Bash to streamline security testing processes, conducting vulnerability assessments, and contributing to the security architecture of Qualcomm’s products. You will also be expected to stay abreast of emerging security threats and industry best practices to proactively improve security measures across platforms.
