Job Description
The Respite Support Professional provides part-time care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in their community or residence. This service may take place in the individual’s own home or natural family home. The role is intended to offer relief to primary caregivers while ensuring clients receive appropriate care and engagement through meaningful and supportive activities.
Responsibilities

Provide care and supervision for clients in their home or outside their residence while primary caregivers rest or engage in personal activities.

Assist with activities of daily living including dressing, toileting, diaper changing, feeding, and bathing.

Perform physical tasks such as lifting and transferring clients in/out of wheelchairs when necessary.

Prepare appropriate meals or snacks during respite sessions, using items provided by the client’s family.

Facilitate recreational and adaptive games/activities that stimulate and entertain clients.

Follow individual client plans and assist in achieving their objectives.

Encourage and introduce clients to new activities in line with their goals.

Assist in developing weekly activity schedules and coordinating community-based activities that reflect the individual’s preferences and respite service plan.

Work flexible hours as determined by the family’s needs.

Complete daily documentation of client observations and issues in designated systems (e.g., Rethink) and communicate as necessary via email to relevant staff.

Submit any other documentation required by a Supervisor or their designee.
Position Type
Part-Time (7 hours/week)
Schedule for case:
Saturday 12 pm - 4 pm & Sunday 12 pm - 3 pm
Requirements
Availability & Scheduling:
All Respite cases will depend on the applicants availability since all cases schedule vary. Ultimately, the applicant will be matched to a case that fits their availability. Currently, most cases fall on the weekend.
