JOB DESCRIPTION
Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express' merchant-and network related businesses to enable a sharp focus on using the power of our network to provide unique value to all our mutual customers. The organization manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accepts American Express and runs the company’s payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.
Global Strategy and Operations (GSOP) is looking for an Analyst focused on ensuring program governance and compliance oversight is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies
Responsibilities
- Drive effectiveness and quality of Small Merchant external partner acquisition oversight programs.
- Support the enhancement and implementation of oversight review and controls.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance program governance, monitoring, and execution efficiency.
- Perform detailed quality checks on review outputs, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions to ensure review milestones remain on track.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, ranging from process optimization initiatives to large-scale data management efforts.
- Develop executive dashboards and reporting artifacts that provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, risks, and improvement areas related to partner performance and compliance.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and ensure timely completion of reviews and remediation actions.
- Act as custodian of centralized databases, ensuring strong version control, documentation standards, and data integrity.
- Support enhancements in engagement review execution through structured process refinement and governance rigor.
Qualifications
- Highly self-motivated, results-oriented individual with strong relationship building skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally to influence and negotiate with other Blue Box entities and external partners, drive change, and formulate and implement innovative policies and oversight requirements.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the payments industry. Knowledge of the merchant business preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and derive actionable insights.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel, MS Access, PowerApps, PowerPoint, Power BI and Tableau.
- Experience creating executive ready dashboards and presentations
- High attention to detail with strong quality control mindset.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across global teams.
