About the job:
Role Overview:
- Analyst Intern supporting deal origination, target screening, and execution across Welsbach’s mandates
- Direct report to Senior Associate; cross-exposure to the broader deal team
- Duration, location (remote / Singapore / Delhi / hybrid), stipend, and conversion pathway to full-time analyst to be confirmed
Core Responsibilities:
- Build pre-meeting intelligence briefs on prospective clients, SPAC targets, and counterparties
- Run RTO/shell suitability reviews on listed entities flagged as potential vehicles: capital structure, free float, litigation, going-concern, listing standards
- Maintain a live pipeline tracker of SPACs, shells, and de-SPAC candidates (US, LSE, ASX, SGX) with deadlines, trust sizes, sponsors, and status
- Draft sections of investment memos, board notes, and sector commentary for review
- Build and refresh comparable company sets, transaction comps, and simple valuation outputs
- Support meeting prep: agendas, attendee bios, prior-interaction recaps, follow-up notes
- Keep CRM and shared deal files clean and current
AI Fluency
- Power user of Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or equivalent — uses them as a research, drafting, and analysis partner daily, not occasionally
- Comfortable building and refining prompts, custom GPTs/Projects, and Claude Skills/Artifacts for repeatable workflows
- Knows when to trust model output and when to verify against primary sources, citations
- Bonus: experience with Perplexity, NotebookLM, ElevenLabs, Descript, image/video generation tools, or lightweight automation (Zapier, Make, n8n)
Content & Social (LinkedIn-led)
- Own Welsbach’s LinkedIn content calendar in coordination with the deal team, cadence, themes, approvals
- Draft posts, carousels, and short-form thought leadership tied to live market events, regulatory shifts, and the firm’s perspective
- Repurpose internal research and memos (where shareable) into external content without leaking sensitive deal information
- Design simple visuals, carousels, quote cards, charts, using Canva, Figma, or equivalent
- Track engagement, iterate on what works, and bring data-backed recommendations on what to double down on
- Identify and engage relevant voices in the firm’s universe, founders, sponsors, allocators to grow distribution
What We’re Looking For
- Strong proficiency with AI-powered productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc.) and the ability to leverage them effectively to enhance research, skill development, analysis, content creation, and day-to-day workflow efficiency.
- Penultimate or final-year undergrad / Master’s in finance, economics, business, communications, or a quantitative discipline; non-traditional backgrounds welcome if the work product is there
- Comfort reading financial statements without hand-holding
- Strong written English, can produce a one-pager that a busy MD will actually read, and a LinkedIn post that a stranger will actually stop scrolling for
- Excel fluency (modelling, not just formatting); PowerPoint/Slides
- Curiosity about how capital markets actually clear deals
- Discretion: interns see live deal information and live client names
Nice to Have
- An active professional presence on LinkedIn or a portfolio showcasing published articles, research, or thought-leadership content.
- Exposure to capital markets, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, transaction advisory (Big 4), or boutique financial advisory environments.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python or SQL for sourcing, cleaning, and interpreting datasets.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Gain firsthand exposure to how cross-border mergers, SPAC transactions, IPOs, and other complex capital markets deals are originated, structured, negotiated, and executed.
- Build a portfolio of high-impact work through published thought leadership, market research, and strategic content, with opportunities for public or ghost bylines.
- Work directly with founders, C-suite executives, SPAC sponsors, listed-company boards, institutional investors, and global advisory partners.
- Take ownership of meaningful projects and workstreams from day one, with real responsibility and the opportunity to make a measurable impact.
- Accelerate your learning in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where initiative, curiosity, and high-quality execution are recognized and rewarded.
