Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: •Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. •Must have an AA degree or higher; or completed at least 48 semester units at an institution of higher education; or pass an Assessment Test. •Supplemental college-level coursework in library skills preferred and one year experience working in a library or instructional environment. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: •Knowledge of library practices, procedures and terminology. •Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary. •Knowledge of Dewey Decimal, card cataloging systems. •Knowledge of children's literature and district curriculum, library reference materials and resources •Ability to provide library services relating to the acquisition, circulation, distribution and recovery of library books and instructional materials. •Ability to assist students and teachers in locating and selecting materials. •Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
