The Role:


The role of (Assistant) Management Accountant is a critical role in ensuring that we have the right data and insight into our business performance in a timely fashion, in order to run the business successfully.


The essence of the role is to close our month end accurately and as quickly as possible, produce the resulting P&L’s and for the remainder of the time be a data analysis centre of excellence for providing key information to stakeholders in the business.


The Management Accountants are a key supplier of financial information both through regular reporting and ad hoc analysis. The team are also responsible for ensuring key financial processes are completed appropriately such as month end close, and balance sheet reconciliations.


What you’ll be doing:


Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Work with the Finance Business Partner to develop the timeline, framework and templates for monthly forecasting and annual budgeting
  • Work with P&L owners to ensure forecast and budget are recorded accurately in AMS finance systems
  • Provide backup support to budgeting processes as needed


Financial & Operational Excellence


  • Manage the closure of month end for specific areas in line with company deadlines
  • Ensure financial reports comply with accounting standards and company policies
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and minimize adjusting entries from period-to-period
  • Prepare account P&L’s and provide them to Finance Business Partners and P&L owners
  • Help communicate trends or variances to the Finance Business Partner responsible for client accounts


Ad Hoc Analysis


  • Provide analysis and information to the Finance Business Partners and key stakeholders around areas such as:
  • Cost analysis to support decisions around cost restructuring,
  • Salary trend analysis
  • Commentary when required to provide further insight to management information
  • Analysis and maintenance of key non-financial measures such as volumes, headcount, variable cost per unit


You’ll need to demonstrate:


  • Background in finance or financial analysis - related experience or education (degree in Economy, Finance, Marketing, Business Studies, Maths or Technology, or related areas)
  • Working experience in a management accounting/ financial planning & analysis environment
  • Quick at picking up new systems knowledge and processes
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, including an ability to see the big picture through the numbers
  • Ability and experience of working with finance colleagues in a separate location
  • Microsoft Dynamics (D365) and TM1 analysis skills would be an advantage
