About the role

Position Summary

The Coordinator, Political Engagement & Grassroots at APCIA, assists in the execution of association’s grassroots advocacy efforts, with specific focus on website, social media and database elements. Performs varied grassroots coordination, tracking and reporting responsibilities, including use of a variety of web-based tools in support of administrative functions. Makes independent decisions within established guidelines regarding planning, organizing, and scheduling of own work. 


Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in the execution of grassroots campaigns through the set-up, management, emailing, and reporting on grassroots action alerts and, as needed, performs social media content drafting, review and posting. 
  • Initiates member outreach on grassroots campaigns, co-branded website additions, thank you material, and metrics reporting. 
  • Assists in making grassroots website updates and maintaining grassroots databases. 
  • Provides general grassroots administrative support, including data entry, word processing, document formatting, and copy editing. 
  • Tracks and coordinates execution of grassroots/tops contracts under direction of VP. 
  • Maintains grassroots issue tracking documents and related reporting. 


Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Assists with handling the submission of grassroots invoices and the recording of those invoices in PE budget tracking documents. 
  • Assists VP and Director by covering and reporting on grassroots-related portions of assigned state legislative update calls, as needed. 
  • Maintains grassroots files and materials on SharePoint. 
  • Monitors the grassroots email accounts and replies to requests. 
  • Other grassroots-related projects as assigned.  


Qualifications: 

(a) - Educational Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or at least two years work experience in similar position. 

(b) – Experience: 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) with professional experience with website (WordPress) and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure, and to act quickly and independently, using strong problem solving and decision-making skills. 


Preferred Skills: 

  • Familiarity with government legislative processes, in both the state and federal legislative branches.
