Amex Digital Labs is responsible for catalyzing innovation at American Express by originating, incubating, and managing products and platforms that are essential to our customers' lives. We are a fast-paced team that leverages emerging technologies to develop digital payment and financial services products, customer servicing solutions, and engaging membership experiences. We often collaborate with top technology companies and strategic partners to bring products to market. We are looking for an Associate Product Manager to lead operations for Amex's Peer-to-Peer (P2P) payment product, Send & Split. We launched Send & Split for U.S. consumer Card Members, which allows them to seamlessly send money and split Card purchases with any Venmo and PayPal user, right from the Amex App. The person taking this role will be responsible for crafting and executing a robust operations and risk mitigation strategy, ensuring quality and reliability for Send & Split, and enabling the team's development of new P2P features. In this role you'll own customer feedback and alerting channels, lead issue resolution, and document critical procedures to share best practices with cross-functional teams. The Associate Product Manager, along with other members of the team, will represent the product with internal and external audiences. Primary responsibilities: Manage workflows that are paramount for the product's success, ensuring key processes are executed in a compliant and high-quality fashion Collaborate with Servicing, Compliance, and Control Management Governance stakeholders, to clarify requirements and implement the most effective risk mitigation strategies Partner with engineers to ensure platform health, identifying potential issues and resolving bugs in a robust manner Monitor customer feedback across a variety of channels, becoming an expert in customers' pain points and problems, and working to provide a satisfactory resolution to all issues Be responsible for our suite of alerts and platform health reporting, assessing the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of existing solutions, and implementing new capabilities where necessary Document and organize all critical knowledge required to manage a rapidly evolving product, empowering seamless knowledge transfer across the team Proactively identify opportunities to improve control management practices and mitigate operational risk Become a subject matter expert on the relevant regulatory requirements to enable the team to build enhanced controls for ensuring adherence Maintain pulse on external trends and marketplace dynamics impacting the payments and banking industry, to inform continuous product evolution We are seeking a candidate with a passion for operational excellence, a clear focus on the customer and compliance, strong communication skills, and the ability to provide clarity and direction across teams. Key qualifications are: 1 - 4 years of relevant experience in product operations, project management, or similar role Strong organizational and communication skills; tremendous attention to detail Enthusiasm for exceptional products and services, deep customer empathy, keen product intuition, and skilled at articulation of product functionality Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and influence others Understanding of tech and product development processes, known as a "business person who can talk tech." Ability to reconcile competing needs across customers, stakeholders, and partners; gather the information, assess tradeoffs and risks, gain buy-in, make an informed decision, and support that decision with compelling evidence. Curiosity and hunger to know how things work and ability to use that knowledge to make connections and find opportunities, with an entrepreneurial mindset. Ability to recognize issues quickly and determine how to get a resolution through creative and efficient problem solving. Adaptability: able to change your approach based on your audience. Team player, flexible, and comfortable with ambiguity Willing to take initiative and be accountable for results. Willingness to be creative within the bounds of the highly regulated environment that is, financial services.
