Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic – AM Shift

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and supporting all plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operations within a food manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, supporting production, and maintaining equipment reliability.

This position requires a hands-on technician who can troubleshoot issues quickly, multitask effectively, and maintain a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced production setting.

Pay Range: $30.00 – $40.00/hour (DOE)
Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

Schedule: 1st Shift (AM) – Hours may vary; overtime and weekends as needed
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Reports To: Maintenance Manager

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and equipment-related issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on machinery and equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems, VFD drives, and instrumentation
  • Install, assemble, and test new equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Maintain maintenance records and work orders
  • Order and track parts and materials
  • Support production during startups and changeovers
  • Follow all safety procedures including LOTO and Cal/OSHA standards
  • Identify issues proactively and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience (food manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience with PLCs, VFD drives, and electrical troubleshooting preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read technical documents
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent standing, bending, and climbing
  • Work in cold environments (30–50°F)
  • Wear required PPE

Work Environment

Refrigerated food manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. Work must comply with GMPs and food safety standards.
