Position Summary

The Director, Corporate Communications is a senior individual contributor responsible for driving the execution and performance of key communications channels and thought leadership initiatives across ACP. This role plays a central part in how ACP engages internal and external audiences, strengthening the organization’s visibility and voice through social media, newsletters, webinars, and executive communications. 

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications, the Director operates with a high degree of independence, translating broader communications strategy into coordinated, high-quality execution across channels. The role serves as a trusted partner and advisor across the organization, shaping messaging and ensuring communications are aligned, timely, and reflective of ACP’s priorities and audience needs. 

This position requires strong judgment, the ability to manage competing priorities, and the capacity to influence across teams without direct authority. The Director is accountable for channel performance and continuous improvement, using data and insights to inform decisions, strengthen engagement, and drive measurable impact.

  • Lead execution and ongoing management of key communications channels including social media, newsletters, webinars, and digital platforms, ensuring alignment with broader communications strategy.  
  • Own channel performance, including defining, tracking, and reporting on key metrics across social, email, and digital platforms to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.  
  • Execute thought leadership initiatives, including content development, messaging alignment, and platform amplification to support ACP leaders and organizational visibility.  
  • Build and maintain integrated communications calendars, aligning campaigns, content, and channel activity to ensure coordination and consistency.  
  • Serve as a partner to internal stakeholders, providing guidance on messaging, positioning, and communications approach within established strategy.  
  • Develop and deliver high-quality written content across channels, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with ACP’s voice and priorities.  
  • Oversee webinar communications and content execution, aligning promotion, delivery, and follow-up to support engagement and participation.  
  • Partner across Marketing and Communications to execute social media strategy, including use of social media management tools and analytics platforms to support content planning and performance tracking.  
  • Utilize email marketing platforms and digital tools to support newsletter development, distribution, and performance analysis.  
  • Monitor trends and identify opportunities to strengthen engagement, reach, and effectiveness across channels.  
  • Prepare regular updates for leadership that provide clear insight into communications performance, trends, and opportunities.  
  • Build strong working relationships across teams to support coordination, alignment, and effective execution of communications initiatives. 

Education, Experience, Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.  
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.  
  • Demonstrated ability to execute integrated, multi-channel communications strategies within a broader organizational framework.  
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise, and audience-focused content across formats.  
  • Proven ability to operate with sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders across teams without direct authority.  
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and align efforts across channels.  
  • Experience tracking and analyzing communications performance, using data to inform decisions and improve outcomes.  
  • Experience working with social media platforms, email marketing systems, and digital content tools.  
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear and effective communications for a range of audiences. 

Job Conditions

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $130,000$155,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
