Purpose
The Chief Product Officer leads AAIS’s product strategy and portfolio in collaboration with the Product Leaders, driving innovation, market relevance, and operational excellence across the product suite. This role oversees the lifecycle of AAIS product offerings and ensures alignment with our Member-centric mission. As a senior leader, the Chief Product Officer guides the organization in anticipating industry shifts, responding to evolving Member needs, and shaping the future of P&C insurance solutions. This role is accountable for strategic leadership, team performance, and delivery of valuable products that are sustainable, compliant, and competitive.

Strategic Product Leadership
- Own and evolve the product vision and strategy aligned with AAIS’s mission and Member priorities.
- Collaborate with Product Leaders to provide strategic oversight across product suites (e.g., personal, commercial, farm/agriculture, inland marine/COP, auto), ensuring coordination and cohesion among offerings.
- Anticipate industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks. Drive proactive product development that keeps AAIS and its Members ahead of the curve.
- Guide decommissioning of outdated products and lead the introduction of modern solutions, tools, and technologies.
- Collaborate closely with Executive Leadership Team peers and stakeholders to integrate product strategy across all business functions.
Executive Member Engagement
- Serve as a senior ambassador to the AAIS Member community; lead strategic discussions and feedback sessions to inform product direction.
- Represent AAIS in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and public speaking engagements to elevate the organization’s visibility and leadership in the market.
- Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on high-impact Member opportunities and strategic alliances.
Operational Oversight & Governance
- Direct the Product, Legal, and Regulatory Filings departments to ensure absolute consistency in methodology, documentation, and execution across all product development and compliance efforts.
- In collaboration with the Product Leaders, manage the product governance process, including product reviews, advisory councils, and serve as the final decision-maker where necessary.
- Establish and monitor Product currency metrics (KPIs) to evaluate product relevance, Member value, and operational efficiency.
Manage a Team
- Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional leadership team—including the Product, Legal, and Regulatory Filings departments—to deliver high performance and support individual growth.
- Set clear goals and expectations, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensure alignment with department objectives, and remove barriers to performance.
- Support resource planning, workload distribution, and prioritization of tasks.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, and performance conversations.
- Identify and address performance issues in a timely and constructive manner.
- Partner with Human Resources on talent-related matters such as hiring, onboarding, development, employee relations, and performance management. Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Represent the team’s needs and perspectives in cross-functional discussions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
