Communications QI/Training Coordinator
Position Summary
Assure that all EMS Communications staff are properly trained in all policies and procedures associated with the daily operations of the EMS Communications Center. Provide overall supervision, training, and direction through coaching, facilitation, and motivation to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of personnel, equipment, and resources within the EMS Communications Center.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for orientation program content for new Dispatchers
- Responsible for quarterly mandatory training sessions and remedial education program, as well as as-needed remediation classes of EMS Dispatchers.
- Works with the EMS Communications Manager and Quality Assurance Coordinator in developing and maintaining compliance with MPDS protocol and Dispatcher SOP Protocols
- Leads QI process and re-training associated with mandatory quarterly training
- Provide training to Communications Preceptors/Evaluators
- Provides orientation to new EMTs, and other visitors as needed
- Assure that appropriate information is received and distributed to EMS staff, management personnel, provider agencies, and medical facilities
- Assure compliance and enforcement of all policies, procedures, processes, and protocols of the American Ambulance Employee Handbook, American Ambulance/Fresno County contract, Fresno County Health Services Agency Policies and Procedures, and any other contracts relating to EMS Communications
- Managing and coordinating dispatcher certifications and recertification
- Promote good morale by exhibiting exemplary conduct, a positive attitude, and support for communications personnel and American Ambulance
- Arrive at all work assignments on time, in appropriate attire/uniform, and with all appropriate certifications and credentials
Secondary Job Function
- Fulfill all job responsibilities of a Communications Supervisor, Radio Operator, and Call Taker as assigned or needed
- Other duties as assigned by the American Ambulance Management staff
Qualifications
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification - Provider or Instructor
- Current Fresno County EMS Dispatcher
- Current EMD/EFD (EMD-Q/EFD-Q after hiring)
- 1 year of experience as an EMS Communications Supervisor

Financial Authority
- May request equipment/supplies through the employee’s immediate supervisor.
- May not purchase or authorize purchase of Inventories Items.

- May not contract or make financial commitments on behalf of the Company.
- May not request hiring of employees for current/new positions.
- May not release employee-related information.
- May not release Company-related information.
- May not copy, forward or remove from premise, any call related information/data by any means
Communications Authority
- May not release call-related information without prior approval.
- May not release employee-related information without prior authorization.
- May not release company-related information without prior approval.
- May use company letterhead only with written permission from the Human Resources Manager.
- May not communicate with the media without authorization.
- May use Company Letterhead.
Equipment Demands
- Must be able to operate the following equipment:
- Computer (keyboard, mouse, and required software)
- Paging equipment (hardware/software)
- 9-1-1 and Fire alarms
- Radio equipment
- UPS/generator function
- Media Works Equipment
- Telephone (including ring-downs)
- FAX machine
- Copy machine

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are expected to be normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
There may be occasional travel for conferences, seminars, and training.
