JOB SUMMARY:
MTG is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to support our Accounting Business Services (ABS) organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and well-controlled accounting operations, with a focus on subledger integrity, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. The Senior Accountant applies strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and a process-oriented mindset to support financial reporting, operational efficiency, and internal controls. In addition, this role partners closely with the Accounting Business Services Manager and cross-functional teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and support system integrations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operational Accounting & Controls
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of subledger transactions, including invoicing, cash application, collections accounting, vendor activity, and payment postings.
- Identify discrepancies between subledgers and the general ledger, investigate root causes, and resolve timely.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities in alignment with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over transaction-level accounting processes, including documentation and approvals.
Subledger Integrity & Issue Resolution
- Review and analyze data flows between systems (e.g., Service Titan, Medius, Sage) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Operations teams to resolve transactional issues and improve data accuracy.
- Support the resolution of complex accounting issues, including unapplied cash, invoice mismatches, and vendor discrepancies.
- Escalate risks, control gaps, and system issues with recommended corrective actions.
Reporting, Analysis & Insights
- Perform flux analysis and provide explanations for variances in key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Analyze operational and accounting metrics (e.g., DSO, DPO, aging trends, invoice exceptions) to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support the preparation of audit schedules and provide documentation for internal and external audits.
Process Improvement & Systems Support
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization within process workflows.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement enhancements in accounting systems and processes.
- Support system integrations, including M&A onboarding activities, data validation, and process alignment.
Ownership & Collaboration
- Take ownership of assigned accounting areas, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
- Act as a key point of contact for accounting-related inquiries from internal stakeholders.
- Support the Accounting Business Services Manager with ad hoc projects, reporting, and process initiatives.
- Provide guidance and informal support to junior team members as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4–6+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or shared services environment.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and transaction-level accounting processes (O2C and P2P).
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, IF formulas, conditional formatting).
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience using Sage Intacct, Medius, Service Titan, Concur, or similar ERP and automation tools.
- Experience supporting process improvements, automation initiatives, or system implementations.
- Experience in a high-growth or private equity-backed environment.
- This could include experience with specific tools or a second language.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
2 days in-office required. Standard office setting with regular computer use. May require extended periods of sitting.
