Job Overview
Alton Aviation Consultancy, a leading management consultancy focused on the aviation and aerospace industries, is seeking a Director for its Tokyo office. The opening arises due to growth in the company’s global advisory offerings. The successful candidate will have a decade or more of experience at the intersection of the aviation industry and advisory services, with a functional focus on:
- aerospace / MRO;
- aircraft financing / leasing; and/or
- airlines.
The position will report to Alton's Head of Asia Pacific and have a significant focus on the Japan market, yet there will be substantial opportunities to contribute to Alton’s aviation advisory activities on a global basis. Successful candidates will play an important role on a team of industry leaders who encourage the continuous development of analytical, interpersonal, creative thinking, business management, and leadership skills.
Job Responsibilities
Directors lead teams of consultants, and are expected to:
- Identify new business opportunities and offerings for the firm;
- Support targeted business development efforts with new and existing clients;
- Manage client relationships and engagements;
- Give keynote speeches and presentations at leading industry events;
- Perform logistical, administrative or other tasks, as directed by company management;
- Perform and oversee report writing and financial model development;
- Manage and support the professional development (i.e. coaching, training, etc.) of associates and senior associates; and
- Oversee the development of company intellectual property.
Qualifications
Skills
- Strong, demonstrable interest in, and passion for, the aviation industry;
- Excellent interpersonal, team management, and teambuilding skills;
- Comprehension of finance fundamentals;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel;
- Superior organizational skills, flexibility managing multiple priorities, working to changing deadlines and attention to detail;
- Unyielding commitment to excellence, delivering the best possible outcomes for clients;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; and
- Able to work precisely and productively under pressure and tight deadlines.
Educational Background
An advanced degree in a quantitative, problem solving or critical reasoning discipline (e.g., business, finance, mathematics, engineering, statistics, etc.) from a top educational institution is strongly preferred.
Working Experience
Ten or more years of aviation and aerospace industry working experience, and/or management consultancy working experience in the aviation industry. Must have experience managing analytical teams.
