About the role
The Crisis Resource Center Advocate supports AFG’s mission, and the operation of the Crisis Resource Center by responding to crisis line calls and web chats and assisting walk-ins seeking help with social services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process incoming walk-ins, calls and web chats from potential sex-trafficked clients seeking information and referrals for social services, including food, clothing, shelter and housing.
- Provide support in the form of crisis intervention, material resources and referrals.
- Screen potential participants for homelessness indicators and possible shelter intake.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops for New Choices participants and peer leader training.
- Assist with training and supervision of Crisis Resource Center interns and volunteers.
- Actively seek-out new resources and referrals that might benefit any AFG-eligible participant.
- Assist with organizing/cleaning the clothes closet, shower facilities & other areas of the Center.
- Accurately document all client contacts; assist with maintaining client files; enter data into multiple spreadsheets and database software.
- Compile statistics that contribute to monthly, annual and ad hoc reports.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.

- Good communication skills, diplomacy and tact
- Strong conflict-resolution and effective listening skills
- Ability to handle crisis, cope with job stress and maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated reliability and dependable attendance
- Lived experience preferred
Qualifications:
- Requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, sociology or other human services field (an equivalent amount of life and/or work experience may be considered); and
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with youth who are involved in high-risk activities, such as: gangs, violence, drugs, truancy, sexual activity, etc.
- Requires solid computer software and data entry skills
