About The Role

The DevOps Engineer will work on the data team to create, maintain, and optimize the infrastructure that supports data operations. This role will focus on building and managing CI/CD pipelines, automation, monitoring/observability, security, release management, and operational processes.

This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning and scalability of the data infrastructure, allowing the data team (such as data/BI analysts, data scientists, and data engineers) to focus on analysis and insights. By automating and streamlining workflows, the DevOps Engineer helps the team meet key business objectives efficiently and reliably.

  • Stability and reliability of data infrastructure

  • Successful implementation of infrastructure and automation improvements

Expected Deliverables (First 6 Months/1 Year)

  • Successfully improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines for our core data infrastructure (including Airflow, dbt, and BigQuery).
  • Improve and automate monitoring, observability, and alerting for our most business-critical processes and systems.
  • Ensure our data infrastructure is secure and compliant with best practices, for minimal downtime and issues.

What We Look For In You

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, preferably within a data-focused team.
  • Proficiency with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) or other major public clouds.
  • Experience with Terraform for infrastructure management.
  • Proficiency with Python or other script languages for automation
  • Profound familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
  • Experience with Linux system administration.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
  • English at an advanced level (required)
  • Additional languages are a plus but not necessary
  • Experience with provisioning and running a Kubernetes cluster (ideal but not mandatory)

Nice To Have

  • Experience with provisioning and running a Kubernetes cluster
  • Knowledge about workflow orchestration tooling (Apache Airflow, Dagster, Prefect etc.)
  • Knowledge of building event-based and streaming systems (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub etc.)
  • Experience with SQL, data warehouse modeling and managing DDL changes
  • Certifications for Terraform GCP, or other cloud / Infrastructure-as-Code

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams in an agile environment
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical details to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues
  • Willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies
