RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and assist customers who are experiencing financial hardship or facing challenges that prevent them from keeping their account balances current.
- Deliver and support customer assistance programs, outreach efforts, and account resolution activities, inclusive of tracking program performance metrics, available budgets, and outreach efforts.
- Facilitate access to available assistance offered by the company or in the community, coordinate with internal teams and external agencies, and provide guidance to staff working with vulnerable and sensitive populations.
- Identify and work with Social Service agencies throughout the service territory.
- Monitor and reach out to challenged customer accounts, which may include establishing payment agreements or payment arrangements and follow-up with customers to help ensure they are successful with agreed-upon terms and participation requirements for available programs or resources.
- Deliver equitable, considerate, and effective customer service, supporting both day-to-day operations and compliance with established procedures, statutory provisions, and service regulations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent PLUS five years or more customer-related experience.
- Basic knowledge of the energy assistance process with experience in working with utility customers.
- Familiarity with account collections processes and related statutory protections is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A hybrid work arrangement means the employee's position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to Duluth, MN
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and underserved communities.
- Experience delivering reports and presentations on key performance metrics and program goals.
- Experience reviewing and analyzing data (financial, customer, demographic, and performance) to identify challenges and opportunities.
- Must have the ability to travel to more than one work location.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $26.00 – $32.20. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
