About the role

The Allen Institute for AI (AI2) is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Scientific Software Engineer to join our research team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying software solutions that support our cutting-edge AI research. Key Responsibilities: • Design and develop software systems that enable, accelerate, and scale AI research efforts • Work closely with research scientists to understand their needs and translate them into robust, scalable software solutions • Contribute to the development of core AI frameworks, libraries, and tools • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software components • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in software engineering and AI Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or other relevant languages • Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing, and containerization technologies • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Passion for translating research ideas into impactful software solutions
