Job details:
Numerical Algorithms & Data Modeling Engineer
Location: Bengaluru, India
Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
We are seeking a Numerical Algorithms & Data Modeling Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to design, implement, and evaluate algorithms that estimate position using sensor data or similar. This role sits at the intersection of numerical computing, geometric modeling, and applied inference. You will collaborate with experts across hardware, signal processing, and embedded systems to develop robust, real-time algorithms for spaceborne platforms.
Key Responsibilities(from here)
- Design and implement sensor fusion algorithms to estimate emitter position using multi sensor measurements derived from RF signals and platform geometry.
- Build numerical and geometric models that account for measurement noise, sensor placement, timing and synchronisation errors, and signal characteristics.
- Work with signal processing engineers to derive relevant observables from sensor data and incorporate them into localisation formulations.
- Perform coordinate transformations between geodetic (WGS84), Earth centered (ECEF), and local Cartesian frames, and reason about geometry, baselines, and localisation accuracy.
- Run simulation and Monte Carlo studies to characterise accuracy, sensitivity to error sources, and performance envelopes across representative mission scenarios.
- Validate algorithms on simulated and recorded RF data, including analysis of outliers, ambiguous solutions, and edge cases.
- Work closely with embedded and systems engineers to translate algorithms into implementable designs with realistic compute, latency, and memory constraints.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Aerospace, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in algorithm development for localisation, tracking, sensing, navigation, or related estimation problems.
- Strong foundation in probability, random processes, linear algebra, and optimisation.
- Hands-on experience with Python and or MATLAB for numerical computing, simulation, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated experience taking at least one algorithm from concept or paper through simulation to validation on real world or lab data.
- Comfort working with spatial and coordinate based data, including 3D geometry and transformations.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree or advanced coursework in signal processing, communication systems, estimation theory, or computational modeling.
- Experience with passive localisation, navigation, or tracking problems involving multiple sensors or platforms.
- Familiarity with uncertainty modeling and performance analysis such as error bounds, dilution of precision, error propagation, and Monte Carlo simulation.
- Exposure to satellite systems, airborne sensor platforms, or distributed sensor networks.
- Experience collaborating with RF, hardware, and embedded teams to integrate algorithms into real time systems.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative software workflows.
Why Join ULOOK
- Own the core algorithms engine at the heart of a next generation RF intelligence platform.
- Work on hard technical problems that directly impact India’s strategic space and defence capabilities.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team from leading space, defence, and research institutions.
- Build algorithms that will run on real satellites and airborne platforms, not just slide decks.
- Competitive compensation, meaningful ownership, and a mission driven culture.
