Managing Consultant – Employee Benefits
Hybrid | Preference for Central time zone Dallas, Texas - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

We’re seeking a Managing Consultant who will make a meaningful impact by delivering proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high-touch experience for both clients and employees.

Responsibilities:
What You’ll Do / Your Impact
Client Partnership & Service Excellence
- Lead and manage key client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts
- Strategically oversee benefit programs, including plan design, funding strategy, renewals, and ongoing consultation
- Confidently engage with C‑suite leaders, HR executives, and plan sponsors across organizations of varying size and complexity
- Promote high client satisfaction through responsiveness, innovation, and confidence
- Adapt communication style to align with client culture and leadership preferences
Operational & Compliance Excellence
- Provide strategic guidance on employee benefits administration, compliance education, and risk management
- Maintain deep knowledge of funding arrangements including self‑funded, captive, and fully insured plans
- Stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends impacting employee benefits and communicate updates to clients
- Collaborate with carriers, vendors, and internal specialty practices to deliver coordinated solutions
- Ensure consistent, high‑quality service delivery aligned with Alera Group service standards
Growth & Retention
- Develop and strengthen client relationships to support retention and long‑term growth
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior partners, extending strategic vision and leadership influence
- Demonstrate expertise supporting mid‑market and large group plans (100–1,500 lives)
- Provide strategic insights for Private Equity‑owned and Captive groups, including cost containment, risk sharing, and financial strategies
- Mentor and train client management team members, supporting professional development and team performance
Qualifications:
What You Bring
Required
- 7–10+ years of experience in employee benefits account management or client relationship management
- Prior management or leadership experience with the ability to mentor teams and oversee strategic initiatives
- Strong experience with self‑funded, captive, and fully insured benefit plans
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly
- Strong financial acumen and technical benefits expertise
- Proven ability to make data‑driven decisions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment
- Active Life & Health insurance license
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field
- Experience advising Private Equity‑owned organizations
- Strong project management skills

Additional Information:
Compensation:
Salary range: $175,000 – $200,000 per year
