Summary

The Albuquerque Academy Security Department is seeking an individual for the position of Part-Time Security Guard. The Part-Time Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors while on the Albuquerque Academy campus. They patrol campus buildings, walk paths and outdoor open spaces, staff the main entrance check-in, monitor security cameras to ensure campus safety, and brief visitors, faculty, staff, and students on school policies as needed. Essential Functions

  • Protect the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Provide security to Academy property.
  • Monitor security cameras.
  • Assist the students, parents, faculty, and staff who call Security for help.
  • Respond to all alarms, accidents, and intrusions on campus. Prepare reports.
  • Meet and direct any emergency vehicles entering campus.
  • Attend monthly Security training sessions.
  • Assist local law enforcement, EMT, and fire department agencies as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
  • Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy. 
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide security, assistance, and traffic control at special events.
  • Assist Physical Plant departments when needed.
  • Assist with vehicle problems such as locked keys in car, and dead battery assistance.
  • Attend employee meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience

  • Minimum one year of experience in Security or two years of experience in the military is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of radio operation, alarm systems, fire extinguishers, and building operations.
  • Basic computer skills, particularly word processing and e-mail.

Special Requirements

  • A valid Driver’s License is required. 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Working Environment

  • Majority of work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings on campus.
  • Shifts are generally 12-hours on Thursday’s and Friday’s, with additional hours as needed, and may require early morning, late evening, and weekend availability. 

 Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without assistance
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, climbing, and reaching
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Regular driving
