Role Overview

We are looking for a strong hands-on Alation Developer with proven experience in enterprise data catalog implementation, metadata ingestion, lineage enablement, and governance workflows.

The role requires practical implementation experience (not theoretical exposure) in configuring and extending the Alation platform in a production environment.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and manage metadata ingestion pipelines using :
• Native Alation connectors
• OCF (Open Connector Framework - Python based)
• Alation REST APIs
• Integrate Alation with databases, ETL tools, and BI platforms
• Implement and maintain data lineage using :
• Query logs
• ETL/ELT integrations
• BI tool integrations
• Configure and manage :
• Custom metadata fields
• Business glossary
• Stewardship assignments
• Certification workflows
• Support platform upgrades, connector troubleshooting, and ingestion issue resolution
• Participate in cloud migration / environment setup / connector reconfiguration
  
  

Mandatory Experience

• Profiles must clearly demonstrate :
• Hands-on Alation implementation experience
• Experience with metadata ingestion, lineage, and governance frameworks
• Strong working knowledge of :
• Python
• SQL
• REST APIs
• Experience integrating Alation with at least one of :
• Snowflake
• SQL Server
• Oracle
• Redshift
• Experience working with query log ingestion and lineage enablement
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Development of custom OCF connectors
• Exposure to ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, Talend, DBT, Airflow
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Exposure to Collibra (only if Alation profiles are not available)
  
  

Profiles To Avoid

• Candidates with only theoretical or admin-level exposure
• Profiles with only BI tools (Tableau/Power BI) without metadata/catalog work
• Profiles without API/Python-based integration experience
