Position Duties

What You'll Do Every Day

This isn't a typical receptionist role. You'll be a vital member of our team, balancing compassionate client service with essential administrative responsibilities:

Client Interaction & Support

  • Welcome clients with empathy and professionalism, often during their most vulnerable moments
  • Conduct detailed interviews to understand client needs and gather necessary information
  • Provide applications, agency forms, and guidance on community resources
  • Direct clients to appropriate services and programs with clarity and patience

Office Operations & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate records through scanning, data entry, and document management
  • Handle correspondence and ensure information flows efficiently through the office
  • Support a fast-paced environment where attention to detail matters
  • Process applications and forms that directly impact families' access to assistance

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additional Information


Emergency Response: This position may be required to work during emergencies, disasters, or shelter operations to serve community members in crisis.

Position Security: All DSS positions are subject to reallocation based on funding availability and evolving agency needs.
